"The boat cruise on the bay is quite interesting, and the light show is very entertaining, as you can watch it from the top deck of the boat. The food was also very good. And the shamisen performance was wonderful."

The Guide
What You See on a Tokyo Bay Cruise, and Which Boat to Take
Rainbow Bridge, Odaiba and the lit skyline are on every route. The boat decides whether you eat, drink or just look.
A Tokyo Bay cruise takes you out from the old waterfront at Etchujima, Shibaura or Shinagawa to Odaiba and under or past the Rainbow Bridge, with the skyline and Tokyo Tower lit up across the water. The one this page puts first is Orange Tour’s Sukiyaki, Show and Tokyo Tower yakatabune cruise: 90 minutes from Etchujima Pier with beef sukiyaki, unlimited soft drinks, live shamisen and an optional Tokyo Tower deck ticket. It is from US$75 a person (checked October 2026) and rated 4.7 out of 5 from 463 reviews.

What you see from the water
The route crosses the inner bay to Odaiba, the artificial island on the far side of the Rainbow Bridge, and the bridge itself is the centrepiece: lit at night, with the towers of central Tokyo and Tokyo Tower behind it. Odaiba has a small copy of the Statue of Liberty on its waterfront, which the boats pass. Since March 2026 there is a new sight as well: the Tokyo Aqua Symphony, a fountain at Odaiba Marine Park whose jets reach about 150 metres across a display about 250 metres wide, with evening shows. The listing says you may see it from the boat if it is running, and one guest this October watched the light show from the top deck. Check the fountain’s own schedule if it matters to you, because the show times have changed since it opened.
Three ways onto the bay
Dinner on a yakatabune. This cruise and Orange Tour’s Odaiba-route yakatabune are the same format: 90 minutes, sukiyaki, soft drinks, shamisen and a roof deck. Pick this one if you want the Tokyo Tower ticket on the same booking; the trip between the pier and the tower is not included, so plan a taxi or train.
A small boat at sunset. Tokyo Water Taxi’s sunset cruise is one hour from Shibaura on a small, fast boat that goes closer to Odaiba and right under the Rainbow Bridge, with a captain and a local guide. There is no meal; you can bring drinks in cans or plastic bottles and a light snack. It is rated 4.9, and recent guests mention the timing set for the sunset.
A lunch cruise as part of a day tour. Hato Bus’s full-day Tokyo tour includes a Tokyo Bay cruise, a buffet lunch in Odaiba, Senso-ji, a matcha experience and the Tokyo Tower Main Deck, with an English-speaking guide, rated 4.9. It suits a first day in Tokyo rather than an evening.
Pick the bay cruise that fits:
Sukiyaki, Show & Tokyo Tower
90 minutes from Etchujima with sukiyaki and shamisen; the tower ticket is an option.

Practical points
Every yakatabune is a tatami room, so shoes come off at the door, and on the shared cruises you may share a table. The Orange Tour boats are not suitable for children under three, wheelchair users, pregnant guests or guests over 80, and the small sunset boat is not for wheelchair users or anyone prone to seasickness. Free cancellation runs up to 24 hours before on all three cruises above.

Tokyo Bay Cruise FAQ
The questions people ask about cruises on Tokyo Bay.
From US$51 a person for a one-hour sunset cruise on a small boat to US$75 for a 90-minute yakatabune with dinner, on GetYourGuide in October 2026. The sunset cruise serves no food; the sukiyaki yakatabune includes dinner and soft drinks.
A yakatabune dinner cruise to the Rainbow Bridge, a small-boat sunset cruise from Shibaura, or a day tour that includes a bay cruise. Hato Bus's full-day tour has a bay cruise and a buffet lunch; Tokyo Water Taxi's sunset cruise goes under the Rainbow Bridge.
Sometimes: the Tokyo Bay yakatabune listing says you may see the Odaiba fountain show if it is running. The Tokyo Aqua Symphony opened at Odaiba Marine Park on 28 March 2026, and its show times have changed since, so check its schedule.
Only if you choose that option when booking, and the trip between the pier and the tower is not included. The option is on the Sukiyaki, Show and Tokyo Tower cruise.
Not on these cruises: swimming, jumping and diving are not allowed on the boats. Odaiba has a beach, but swimming there is restricted to special events; enjoy the bay from the deck of the sunset boat.
Yes, the boat has an indoor space, but take a warm jacket for the open deck. The sunset cruise departure is timed for the sunset, which comes early in the winter months.
